A303 / A358 Corridor improvements

In 2014 the Government announced its intention to improve the A303 and A358 - one of the most direct strategic routes between London and the south east and the south west - to create a high quality dual carriageway link between the two areas.

A programme of 8 improvement schemes was identified (these are outlined the booklet ‘Creating an Expressway to the South West, The case for the A303 /A358 corridor’). The first 3 to be delivered are:

Collectively these schemes will help to deliver a free-flowing road, making journeys easier while also addressing issues with rat running through towns and villages along the corridor, and improving safety.

In early 2018, we will be holding a public consultation on each of these schemes.

The statutory consultations for A303 Stonehenge and A303 Sparkford to Ilchester will provide detailed information about the improvements that we plan to take forward.

We’ll also be holding a further non-statutory consultation to ask for feedback on the options we’ll present to improve the A358 between the M5 at Taunton and Southfields roundabout on the A303.

Please take the time to have a look at the individual scheme pages. If you’d like to take part in the consultations, you’ll find links to them on each of the scheme pages.
