As part of our commitment to supporting work in the local community, members of the Lower Thames Crossing team volunteered on an RSPB site near Gravesend last week.

Under the guidance of an RSPB site warden, the volunteers visited the Shorne Marshes to clear vegetation and cable tie the electric fence.

Throughout the day, our team discussed biodiversity, the local environment and how we can work alongside communities and key stakeholders to make sure the Lower Thames Crossing will protect and enhance the environment.

One of our volunteers said, “It was great to learn more about the habitat management plan in the local area and the great work that RSBP does to conserve wildlife habitats and forge new partnerships with other organisations. Their passion for nature is inspiring, and I’m very interested in participating in more opportunities like this.”

We look forward to more volunteering activities in the local community in the future. Visit the Our approach page to learn more about our ongoing activities and engagement in communities near the route.
