Scoping Report Opinion

We welcome the publication of the Planning Inspectorate’s response to our Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Report. This is an important step on the road to statutory consultation as we take the project through the planning process.

The Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Report is a vital component of the Development Consent Order process. It sets out the scope of the environmental impact assessment we will carry out. Since the Report was submitted, it was formally issued by the Planning Inspectorate to consultees. These include impacted local authorities, relevant county councils, and environmental bodies including Environment Agency and Natural England. Consultees had 28 days to respond to the Planning Inspectorate.

The Planning Inspectorate’s Scoping Opinion Report is available on their website.

What happens next?

We will work to address the specific comments set out by the Planning Inspectorate ahead of our Development Consent Order application.

We would like to thank the consultees for their considered responses and look forward to working with them as we continue to develop our proposals for a new Lower Thames Crossing.
